COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK

Copenhagen Fashion Week has just ended. The fashion from the danish capital is weird.

I used to think that nothing is going to surprise me anymore. In terms of fashion I meant . During the Prague Fashion Week I witnessed the show of one of the Czech fashion students. He artistically decided to put on an erotic show that corresponded with the theme of the collection. I thought it looked weird back then. The designers of the Copenhagen Fashion Week have really showed me how to turn the what-the-fuck factor on.

During the last 3 days I saw the variety of weirdness. I attended the majority of shows so I spotted the shiny sequinned men underwear, jersey tight sort-of-dress for men, christmas tree’s ornaments burka and the plastic shower carpet skirt. Does it sound like too much? I also saw the  head-to-toe bandage outfit which gained the third place in an international fashion competition called Designer’s Nest. And the way-too-oversized jackets(as seen).

I have always considered myself as the fashionista and I thought I can understand a lot. I am not going to lie – this type of fashion does not apply to me. I felt like I was in the famous Tate Modern London again. My mind just refuse to cooperate with that type of art. But there is no deny that the fashion from Copenhagen will find its admirers eventually. Well, modern art also did.

I need to mention that I love the innovations in fashion. I was told that the fashion designers always need to transfer their alter ego into every collection. After seeing the shows in Copenhagen I began to worry about the famous scandinavian depression.

There were obviously some designers who did not translate ‘weird’ into ‘fashionable’. Frederico D’Angelo presented a maginificent feminine collection. The line was full of pencil skirts, office wear , juicy coloured jumpsuits and very well tailored blazers. The famous danish fashion brand Lovechild also knows how to make an impression. They produced a nice range of very good quality basics along with the hint of the weirdness – well done for that!

Summarizing – despite the fact of my missunderstanding of the danish fashion intentions I do really find the Copenhagen Fashion Week very inspiring. What I was looking forward the most, the street fashion , did not fail to inspire me and motivate to do more work! Stockholm will be my next scandinavian stop!

Kolekcja Frederico D’Angelo podbiła moje serce. Zaprezentował cudowną kobiecą kolekcję pełną czerwonych komplecików, ołówkowych spódniczek, kombinezonów w nasyconych kolorach, świetnie skrojonych marynarek. Z kolei LOVECHILD, kopenhaska wiodąca marka modowa, udowodniła, że produkując kolekcje pełną ubrań typu basic również można podbić serca miłośników mody.

Reasumując, pomimo mojego niezrozumienia typowej kopenhaskiej estetyki bardzo mi się ten fashion week podobał. Miło było w końcu zobaczyć coś, co nie było piękne (jakkolwiek by to brzmiało) i co wzbudza prawie tyle kontrowersji co haute couture shows parę ładnych lat temu. Następnym razem wybiorę się do Sztokholmu!
