I first heard about retinol (Vitamin A1) a few years ago but I was too young to try its ‘magic’ back then. I have never had major skin problems but last year I started to notice a few fine facial lines on my forehead. I am 28 so it is a bit too early for the heavy wrinkles but facial lines might ‘get you’ pretty early, even in the early twenties.
I had planned my retinol journey to start in April, right before my wedding in Thailand but I was told it is better to leave the cure for the fall. I received my products at the beginning of May but tucked them in my bathroom shelf for a while.
I heard a lot about MURAD Skincare – from a beautician whom I trust, from my bestie who suffered from acne, from my skincare-freak friend. I have also seen their 5-star reviews. Did you know their products are a NUMBER ONE retinol in the US?
You can’t imagine how thrilled I was for the opportunity to work with the brand. I promised myself I will diligently test the products, take notes and photos so my readers would get a really trustworthy review.
First things first – a few words about Resurgence Series I am using :
‘Murad has perfected the science of retinol with this breakthrough serum, powered by Retinol Tri-Active Technology: a fast-acting retinoid, a time-released retinol and a retinol booster. This potent yet gentle formula helps quickly and visibly minimize lines and deep wrinkles, firm, even skin tone and boost radiance for more vibrant, youthful-looking skin.’
Which skin type is it good for?
The products I am reviewing today are:
- Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream
- Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum
I have been using MURAD Resurgence TRIO since I was back from the Maldives, around 23rd of September, which makes it a solid Month. Today, on the 26th of October, I see a lot of improvement!
First two weeks were, the way I see it, horrible as I got a number of spots on my forehead and cheeks. I have never suffered from acne so I would not describe this week as the most comfortable week of my life. I was, however, warned a ‘little rash’ might happen a week after my skin’s first contact with retinol. So yes – it was nothing to worry about and the spots were gone in a week 3. Remember not to start retinol just before an important event such as a wedding, birthday parties or work events.
The third week left me speechless. My Retinol Renewal TRIO gave my skin the glow it has never had before! I am not wearing any foundation today and my skin still looks really good minus few red veins but it is a different story. Along with Resurgence series, I also use my S5 Anti-Redness serum on my cheeks as I still notice a few spider veins on them.
How do I use them?
I use Retinol Youth Renewal Serum as a day cream along with Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum. I cleanse my skin with my S5 cleanser and treat my skin with Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel before I put Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream and Eye Serum again. Sometimes I also use S5 Anti-Redness as a night cure on my cheeks.
A few words about Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum
I have never EVER had a better beauty product! Really. I had always had a massive problem with my under eye area. It was tricky to cover for the photo shootings. I travel a lot so it did not help either. I tried everything – from eye patches to mesotherapy but nothing was every as GREAT as this little serum. I could not be more pleased with the results which were visible within 3 days!
Around 10 days ago, another Resurgence product joined my TRIO. I was given the opportunity to test the newest Replenishing Multi-Acid Peel.
It is meant to work in 3 Phases:
- Phase 1 resurfaces for smoother, brighter skin
- Phase 2 nourishes for a more vibrant complexion
- Solution for dullness, rough texture and uneven skin tone
I use it before I apply my Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream, only in the evening, once a day. I saw an improvement after a week. My skin feels more… even and smoother. It makes a perfect addition to my TRIO!
In general, I recommend all of my 4 products to everyone who wants to start their journey with retinol without having to worry about the consequences. The products are worth their price, and I will keep using them for years to come!
